You will manage several cross-functional, highly-collaborative teams to deliver quality software that solves real problems for our customers. You will be responsible for guiding, mentoring, and empowering your team to deliver high-quality software while fostering a positive and productive remote work environment. Our teams have a deep understanding of their domains and work to deliver value with minimal overhead. We prize excellence, creativity, and accountability and in return provide autonomy and an environment to do your best work.What You’ll Do 🐱💻Manage a team of senior and mid-level software engineers specializing in React/Typescript, GraphQL, Elixir, and AWSProvide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support to team membersConduct regular 1:1 meetings to discuss performance, goals, and career growthConduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedbackFoster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and open communicationChampion our remote-first culture, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across distributed team membersCollaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables. Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement solutionsIdentify and implement technical and process improvements to enhance team efficiency and productivityParticipate in the hiring process for engineering roles, including interviewing candidatesOnboard new team members and provide them with the resources and support they need to succeedWho You Are 🐱💻Must Haves:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience3+ years of experience managing remote software engineering teams5+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer, preferably with experience in our technology stack (React/Typescript, GraphQL, Elixir, AWS)Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate engineering teams. Comfortable providing constructive feedback and celebrating successStrong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skillsExperience working in a remote-first environmentPassion for building high-quality software and fostering a positive team cultureNice-to-Haves:Deep knowledge of Elixir or Erlang for back-end development and Typescript/React for front-end developmentExperience in the Veterinary industryHow Instinct Will Care About YOU 🌞We offer a supportive and caring work environmentWe are transparent, open, honest, and empathic, both internally and externallyWe pay our team well.
