About the role
Thanks for taking time to stop by and take a look at the Elixir Developer role I posted here on LinkedIN, I appreciate it. I like to add humor and a human touch to these things...so, you will - hopefully - see some things that might even make you chuckle. So, no Ai, no bots are used in creating my JD's....just a dude doing the best he can.
Here are a couple key things with regards to this role before we go further:
This role is a permanent role. It could go contract to hire as well.
This employer is pretty strict when it comes to visa status. So, I can only work with US Citizens or Green Card holders for this role. So, if you are an H1, OPT, EAD, H4, STEM, F1 or anyone other than a current US Citizen or Green Card holder, we won't have a fit for this role.
I am not working with external vendors for this role. So, if you are an external vendor that says 'I have a great candidate', please stop...I am not working with external vendors for this one.
This role is being done remotely. Ideally, we are seeking someone on the East Coast or Central Time zone. I can only work with candidates that are already in the US for this role.
As with every role I work on, social fit is almost as important as the technical fit. Granted, there are absolute 'gotta haves' from a technical standpoint (you will see those later in this job description) and without those gotta haves, we wont have a fit. However, the client for this role really likes to see candidates that will 'fit' their environment. Here are some of those characteristics:
We have all come across those individuals that think that the entire world revolves around what they say (who knows, maybe you are working with someone like that now). You want to know something? These kinds of people make work kinda stink, don't they? So, we aren't looking for that kind of stinker...instead, we are looking for that kind of person that is competent without being a pain in the you know what about it.
Remember that Apple commercial back in the 1980's 'Here's to the crazy ones'? If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend you check it out...it just might change how you look at things (It did for me many eons ago). Granted, this role is not for Apple...but we are looking for that kind of person that looks at what can be as opposed to what is...
Here is what this role is really all about:
We are looking for an Elixir developer. We know there are those out there that are passionate about Elixir...if you are, please apply...I am interested in hearing from you. You will be working with a firm that has a platform that helps people buy and experience buying a car...fun...yep, taking one of the most agonizing experience people go through into something that is genuinely fun. You will be working on an existing team of 2 developer (both of those developers are Elixir developers), and working on ongoing development efforts, code ops, and maintenance of this clients major platform (the one to make buying cars fun). You will be working on structures that make landing pages more configurable as well.
You will, primarily, be working on front end development work UI/UX work and Phoenix LiveView and that wonderful world of Elixir. In addition, this is an opportunity to show your passion for crafting elegant and responsible user interfaces and shape the overall product experience. Collaboration with product, design, and engineering will be critical to your success in this role.
Here are some of those key responsibilities (I won't exhaust you with a zillion bullet here...as they say on Dragnet 'just the facts'):
This role's primary focus is frontend development with Phoenix LiveView.
Work on designers to implement polished UI/UX.
Optimize performance, accessibility and responsiveness across devices.
From a backend standpoint (yep, this role is front end focused, but - as with any role - there is some back end aspects as well), we are looking for experience building and maintaining backend services using Elixir/Phoenix, documentation and design of APIs (REST or GraphQL), and that ability to contribute to data modeling and performance optimization.
Here's what we are seeking (rather than having a ton of bullets, I will just relay the gotta haves...so, yep, these all are gotta haves):
At least 8 years of front end development experience.
3+ years of Elixir experience.
Deep experience with Phoenix LiveView...this experience should include complex UI state management.
Strong PostgreSql and data modeling.
