Senior Elixir Engineer
About the role
Part-Time Elixir Engineer — Crofter (Remote)
Crofter is a farm-to-door marketplace connecting Utah families directly with the local farms, ranchers, and artisans growing their food. We're a small team building something we genuinely care about, and our customers tell us we're the service they've been "waiting for for years."
We're looking for a part-time contract Elixir engineer to join us alongside our existing engineer and ship features at a faster cadence.
The work
General feature development across our marketplace. Real things, real users, real producers depending on what we ship. Recent and upcoming work includes checkout flow improvements, producer-side tooling, analytics, and the steady drumbeat of "make the product better" that any healthy marketplace lives on.
Stack
Elixir + Phoenix LiveView
PostgreSQL
Ash framework (migrating toward / using selectively)
Tailwind, HEEx components
You
Strong production Elixir + Phoenix experience (must)
Comfortable owning features end-to-end: schema → backend → LiveView → ship
Good judgment about when to do it right vs. when to do it fast
Communicate clearly in async / written form (Slack, PRs, short Looms)
Ash framework experience is a real plus, but we'd rather hire a strong Phoenix engineer who'll learn Ash than someone who only knows Ash
Logistics
10-20 hours/week
Indefinite — this is an ongoing role, not a one-off project
Fully remote
Hourly contract; rate based on experience
US-based or overlapping US business hours preferred
A link to your GitHub or any Elixir code you can share
One or two sentences about a Phoenix or LiveView project you're proud of and what you actually built on it
Your hourly rate
No cover letter needed. No take-home. If your reply makes us want to talk, we'll set up a 30-minute call.
We'll respond to every applicant within a week.
