Elixir Engineer - Backend Developer

Piper Companies is hiring an Elixir Engineer - Backend Developer for a leading global data infrastructure organization located in Raleigh, NC. The Elixir Engineer - Backend Developer will support a cutting-edge ServiceFabric platform, focusing on backend systems development, scalability, and cloud-based architecture. The Elixir Engineer - Backend Developer is a fully remote contract position working EST hours and will play a key role in building and maintaining high-performance backend services.

Responsibilities of the Elixir Engineer - Backend Developer:

Design, develop, and maintain backend components for scalable web applications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend systems with frontend components
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize applications for performance and reliability
Contribute to system architecture decisions and mentor junior developers
Build reusable code, libraries, and services for long-term platform growth
Develop and maintain unit and integration testing frameworks

Requirements of the Elixir Engineer - Backend Developer:

3+ years of backend development experience
Strong experience with Elixir and backend-focused development
Proficiency with SQL and PostgreSQL; experience with Kafka is a plus
Experience with AWS cloud services and version control using GitHub
Familiarity with Python is preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Compensation for the Elixir Engineer (Backend Developer):

$105,000-$125,000, based on experience
