Role Description
This is a contract remote role for a Senior Elixir and AI Engineer. The role involves developing and maintaining Elixir-based applications, crafting and deploying AI models, and ensuring efficient system performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven features, optimize system architecture, and troubleshoot technical challenges. Additionally, you will contribute to building scalable and secure solutions for enterprise requirements while adhering to best practices in programming and software design.
Overlapping time required: 6 hours in EST for LATAM-based candidates.
The Tech Stack

Cloud: Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
AI Focus: Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agentic Workflows, Shared Skill Registries
Key Responsibilities
Agent-Ready Infrastructure: Build MCP integrations and automated feedback loops (type systems, test harnesses, linters) that allow AI agents to operate autonomously.
Product Unification: Strategy and execution for unifying Stord’s product suite into composable shared services, specifically consolidating legacy acquired codebases.
Developer Experience (DevEx): Treat the internal platform as a product—shipping "Golden Paths" and scaffolding with the same rigor as customer-facing features.
Standardizing AI Patterns: Evaluate emerging AI tools and design the patterns that embed them into everyday engineering practice.
Cross-Team Enablement: Serve as the technical bridge between product teams and SRE to identify and remove infrastructure friction.
What We’re Looking For
Senior Technical Depth: Significant production experience in Elixir/Phoenix or TypeScript. You have a deep understanding of distributed systems and platform-layer architecture.
The "Platform" Mindset: You have strong opinions on what makes a developer platform succeed (and why they often fail). You prioritize long-term maintainability over quick hacks.
Practical AI Infrastructure: You’ve moved beyond ChatGPT prompts. You’ve run agents in production-adjacent workflows and understand the infra needed for them to succeed (e.g., CLAUDE.md patterns).
High Agency: This team is being built from scratch. You thrive when you are the one defining the problem, proposing the solution, and owning the outcome.
Nice-to-Haves:
Familiarity with Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex as a primary dev environment.
Experience with Temporal, Prefect, or Airflow.
Background in logistics, supply chain, or heavy B2B operations.
